Lorna McLaughlin (The Henry Girls)
Being part of AnNua is very important for me. It introduces me to a wider network of artists working in the area and I feel part of a community because of it. Also I love getting the chance to work with other art forms, for example puppetry, which I might not otherwise get a chance to do. It's an exciting, innovative and forward thinking collective to be part of and I love it!!
Lorna McLaughlin is one of the famed Henry Girls who have performed at major festivals throughout Ireland, Europe, in Africa and America. She has worked with AnNua from the outset on piano, accordion, pipe and as a vocalist. Lorna recently provided musical accompaniment for AnNua’s Wee Un’s: Three Irish Shorts performed during Derry’s Culture Night together with Paul Moore and puppeteer Karen Torley (Banyan Theatre) and again during Derry Story in 2012. During Derry City of Culture 2013, Lorna will be performing live with AnNua together with a host of guest musicians and Irish dancer Bridget Madden who will be adding a percussive element.
