Karen Torley Banyan Puppet Theatre

Collaborating with AnNua proved to be a fruitful and enriching experience. Working with a talented group of performers from different disciplines was a joy along with having the opportunity to take puppetry to an adult audience. The production 'Derry 24' is a very creative and unique production for performers and audiences. I’m looking forward to the next chapter!
Banyan is an established touring theatre company and was formed in 1993 by partners Joy Haynes and Karen Torley. The company specialises in producing quality theatre fusing a dynamic blend of storytelling, puppetry and original music. See BANYAN
Karen Torley worked with AnNua to produce Wee Un’s: Three Irish Shorts for Culture Night 2011 in Derry. This proved to be a very positive process creating a performance that combined strong characters (through acting and puppeteering) with shadow and image together with musical accompaniment from Lorna McLaughlin (The Henry Girls). All involved felt a sense of innovation and excitement. Karen and Banyan again worked along side AnNua to create Derry Story in 2012 and will remain with us throughout the Derry 24 project.
